Swan Island access update
May 2025
The committee have received the below email regarding entry to the Island.
The club will fill out the relevant forms when events are taking place
i.e. Opening Day and Prawn and Oyster lunch, you must have your ID with you when driving onto the Island
Please advise all guests and family of the conditions of entry
Children will be okay.
If you are on the Island and staying you will need to do this each time you go on and off the island.
The access requirements at Check Point 1 are consistent with Defence policies nationally.
Everyone entering the Estate must present identification and this will be recorded.
In some instances, it may take a few minutes for the details to be documented either on paper or electronically and for ID’s to be checked.
· This access requirement has not changed and has been Defence policy for many years.
· It’s acknowledged that access requirements may not have been consistently applied when entering Swan Island.
The new Access Control provider is accountable to ensure that Defence policy is applied at Check Point 1, as it is on other Bases and that includes 100% ID checks.
I appreciate your advice on passengers, as they too must be recorded - we’ll follow up with the provider to ensure this is also being actioned consistently.
To assist, we’ve attached a pre-notification form to advise Access Control that there are X number of expected members/guest on a day.
If this is provided to Access Control at: segservicedelivery.sezaccesscontrol.swi@defence.gov.au by 1500 daily, it will be printed and ready to tick off when members/guest arrive on the following day.
This may expedite processing through Check Point 1 as the details have already been recorded, it is then an ID check (approved Govt issued photo ID) against the list and visitors can progress.
Attached is a list of accepted forms of ID.
Defence is working on some additional signage to remind visitors to Swan Island that they need to present ID for entry.
